five years of wandering

through strange rooms

through hospitals

through uninhabited islands

how thin are the threads

that hold us together

with the world

how painful

the spider webs

dying to break free

exhausted

fevered

we run and run

searching for shelter

for a homeland

and our every step is documented

registered and evaluated

by the one

who follows us

and punishes

with silence, mishap, suspicion, hopelessness
